SAE Flanges/ Mono, split & weld nipples - 3/4" to 3"
SAE flanges are standardised hydraulic connections governed by ISO 6162 (or SAEJ518) standard and are primarily used in fluid power systems where threaded fittings might fail or have high chances of leakages and or be difficult to install. Unlike threaded fittings that rely on metal-to-metal thread contact, SAE flange systems use the compression of an O-ring between the weld nipple face and the flat surface of the port to ensure a leak-free seal.
SAE J518 standard is the benchmark for 4-bolt hydraulic flange connections, divided into two pressure classes: Code 61 (Standard series, up to 3,000 psi) and Code 62 (High-pressure series, up to 6,000 psi). Typically, these flanges are available as mono or split type designs.
Split Flanges consist of two separate semicircular halves that "clamp" around a flange head. Their main advantage is the ability to install or remove them in tight spaces without having to disassemble the entire pipe or hose. Alternate designs are Mono Flanges, also known as "solid" or "one-piece" flanges, provide a single, rigid block for the bolt connection. They offer high structural integrity and are often used when the piping layout allows for a slide-on installation.
Weld Nipples are essentially "male" adapters that are welded directly onto the end of a pipe or tube. The weld nipple features a flat face with a groove for an O-ring, which provides the primary seal against the matching port or counter-flange.
